Aaron Design helped to mobilize voters by designing a poster for AIGA's "Get Out the Vote" campaign. The project produced nonpartisan posters that encouraged people to participate in the electoral process and by voting in the presidential election.

Aaron Design, Inc. recently received two awards from American Graphic Design. The brochure we designed for Leapfrog in America received one award, while a promotional postcard we created for the Village Light Opera's NYC production of The Music Man won an other.

We earned a Silver Communicator Award for the design of a brochure for Ricochet Public Relations and a Gold Communicator Award for the design of The Hispanic Society of America's 2007 gala invitation.

Aaron Design won three awards for work with clients in the arts: two Silver Davey Awards - one for Cherry Lane Theatre's 2007 season calendar and one for the trade show banners for Art Resource/Artist Rights Society - and a Creativity Award for painter Hilde Overbergh's website.

Stephanie Aaron is now an Adobe Certified Expert in InDesign, Adobe's market-leading page design and layout software tool. Becoming an ACE -- the highest of three certification categories-- means that Stephanie knows how to use all of InDesign's considerable capabilities in producing designs for her clients.

Aaron Design was invited to participate in the Design Portfolio Review for graduating seniors at the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT). Stephanie Aaron assessed each portfolio and discussed the work with each emerging designer. The seniors' impressive work offers an encouraging sign for the next generation of design excellence.

This spring, Aaron Design, Inc. President Stephanie Aaron taught a course in graphic design for undergraduate students at Marymount Manhattan College. Through class projects ranging from posters to postage stamps, students learned how to integrate typography, images, color, and white space.

As a board member of New York Women in Communications, Stephanie Aaron was on the dais at the prestigious Matrix Awards Luncheon on April 23 with honorees Meredith Vieira, Susan Lyne, Arianna Huffington, Lisa Caputo, and Joan Didion. Presenters included Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton, Nora Ephron, Barbara Walters, Rupert Murdoch, and Martha Stewart and were introduced by saucy emcee Rosie O'Donnell. As one award-winner, New York Post columnist Cindy Adams, remarked: "This is the communications industry version of the Academy Awards."

Aaron Design won two Silver Davey Awards this year, one for Citigroup Private Bank's Private Equity brochure and one for DGA Partners' Capabilities brochure. The Davey Awards are given by the International Academy of Visual Arts, an invitation-only group of top tier professionals from media, advertising, and marketing firms. They honor small firms -- the creative Davids -- who use big ideas, rather than Goliath-sized budgets, to create outstanding design.

Stephanie Aaron is now a Certified Instructor for Adobe Indesign. This means that in addition to bringing her expert skills to client projects, she can teach the whole world how to use the tools of design excellence. She's also teaching a course an Exhibition Design at FIT.

Stephanie has begun teaching InDesign (the layout program used by most graphic designers) at Noble Desktop, New York's premier computer graphics school. Said one student, "I loved... that this class was taught by a design professional and not a computer geek. Stephanie was full of real-life design solutions along with instruction in the software. This was the best class I've taken."

Stephanie Aaron has spent time during the past three summers focusing on her fine art. This summer she took an eight-week class in collage at the Cooper Union's continuing education program. Some of her recent works were exhibited in a group show at KFMK Galleries in Chelsea.

Stephanie Aaron spoke to a group of 120 fellow graphic designers at the NY InDesign Users Group. meeting. (InDesign is leading page software from Adobe). Chapter representative Scott Citron said "Stephanie showed off a beautiful layout that used well thought out styles to help speed production, as well as presenting a smart use of sidebar tables to help organize small text blocks and graphics."

Stephanie Aaron recently attended the biannual conference of the American Institute of Graphic Artists, the largest design conference in the world. This year's focus: Design! emphasized the functional aspects of design. A good fit with the Aaron Design philosophy that design is more than making something pretty. The conference, held in Boston, was moderated by journalist John Hockenberry, with an eclectic range of speakers from Congressman Barney Frank to design legend Milton Glaser to DJ Spooky.

Aaron Design, Inc. has won awards from Graphic Design USA three years in a row. This year we won three awards, including one for our corporate identity work for LoHo Realty.

Last summer Aaron Design, Inc. president Stephanie Aaron spent several weeks painting in Italy. This year she worked on large scale drawings and paintings on paper -- right here in her Lower East Side studio (aka kitchen). Some of the smaller pieces will be on display at the Matzo Files.

When not designing for clients, Stephanie Aaron refreshes her creative wellsprings by painting and drawing. Her work is included in a local group exhibition called Matzo Files on Manhattan's Lower East Side, sponsored by the Artists Alliance, Inc. The show, housed in a unique space at the Streit's matzo factory, was featured in a major article in Time Out NY and received press coverage as far away as Japan.

Hip-hop's "Vote or Die" is everywhere, but America's graphic designers have their own call to the polls. Aaron Design has contributed six posters to the American Institute of Graphic Artist's "VOTE!" campaign. The posters are part of AIGA's "Get Out the Vote" campaign, themed "Good Design Makes Choices Clear." Positive response to Aaron Design's posters has come all the way from France! Aaron Design President Stephanie Aaron spent her summer vacation painting landscapes in the Italian Alps. "After using computers for so many years, it was wonderful to get back to using my hands to create," she says. "Eight hours a day making art and discussing it. What a creative boost!"

The awards were given for the gala invitation and program for the National Council for Research on Women; the Campaign/History brochure for the Fifth Avenue Committee's Capital Campaign and for Aaron Design's own 2003 promotional series.

Dynamic Graphics magazine asked Stephanie Aaron to be one of the "few hand-selected design professionals" responding to a question for their Q&A column: "I have a client who seems to like what I have created when I first present a solution, but calls later with input that ruins the design. Being micro-managed makes me want to tear my hair out: what can I do?" Stephanie's response? It's all about communication. Listen completely, figure out which suggestions are acceptable and won't harm the form or meaning of the piece. Some clients feel they aren't doing their job if they don't make changes. Give a clear and analytical response.
